Catechism in a Year
About this app
A 365-day reading plan through the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Each day gives the paragraphs to read, a short study note, a word from the original languages, the key Scripture passages, a note comparing Catholic teaching with Protestant and Anglican views, and a question for reflection. You can mark each day as read and keep your own notes. Once installed, it works without an internet connection; the Catechism and Bible links need one.
The order of readings
The plan does not read the Catechism front to back. It begins with what is most distinctive for someone coming from another Christian tradition: how revelation is handed on, the Church's teaching authority, and the Church herself. It then moves through Christ, the Holy Spirit, grace and justification, conscience and sin, and the sacraments, before the creation, the moral life, the Ten Commandments and prayer. Every 30th day is a review day.
How it was made
This app was built by Claude, an AI model created by Anthropic, under the guidance of Keith Francis (GitHub: keithintrinidad).
The reading plan and all of the study notes were written by Claude, drawing on Keith's conversations with it about the Catechism, Scripture and its Hebrew and Greek background, and his journey through OCIA. No text of the Catechism is reproduced. Keith directed the app's content, features and design through conversation with Claude, but did not write the code directly.

This app, including its code, design, reading plan, study notes and arrangement of content, is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International Licence (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).
You are free to share it and to adapt it, on these terms:
- Attribution. Give appropriate credit to Claude (Anthropic) as the builder and Keith Francis as the person who directed its creation, link to the licence, and say if you made changes.
- NonCommercial. It may never be sold, or bundled into anything that is sold.
- ShareAlike. Any version built from it must be shared under this same licence, so every copy stays free.
This summary is not a substitute for the licence itself. The Catechism of the Catholic Church is © Libreria Editrice Vaticana; this app only links to the text published on the Vatican's website and gives paragraph numbers. Scripture links open YouVersion (bible.com), whose translations belong to their publishers. The fonts, EB Garamond and Frank Ruhl Libre, carry their own SIL Open Font License.
